Some issues can't be overlooked for self-built swimming pool
When building your own swimming pool ,here are some issues should be pay attention to.
(1), Water pump, swimming pool filter and piping system configuration
The configuration of the water pump must be compatible with the tap water supply to the water tank, the size and length of the water pipes, the size of the filter, and other components. If the piping system is too small, the resistance to water flow in the pipes will increase, limiting the water flow rate.This results in wasted electricity and increased workload because the piping system simply cannot meet the pump's circulation capacity. Furthermore, excessive suction can prevent the pump from drawing in enough water, leading to cavitation. The large number of bubbles produced by this phenomenon increases noise and, more importantly, significantly shortens the lifespan of the pump, especially the impeller.
If the filter is undersized, the water flow rate through it will be too high. The National Swimming Institute (NSPI) recommends the following filtration speeds per square foot of effective filtration area: 20 gallons/minute (private pools) and 15 gallons/minute (commercial pools) for sand filters, and 1 gallon/minute (private pools) and 0.375 gallons/minute (commercial pools) for cartridge filters. Excessive flow can damage the filter, create channels in the sand bed of the sand filter, or damage the cartridges in a cartridge filter, severely impacting filtration efficiency.
(2),Does the swimming pool need a main drain at the bottom?
Small, family-style above-ground swimming pools do not require a main drain at the bottom. This is because these pools are shallow (usually below 1.4 meters), have flat bottoms, and are relatively small (generally no more than 60 square meters).
Commercial swimming pools (usually underground) have longer opening hours, higher usage, deeper water levels, and more sources of contamination. Because pool cleaning equipment can only be used when the pool is closed, the bottom cannot be cleaned promptly during the open hours when sediment accumulates. This causes sediment to accumulate, becoming a source of bacteria or food for bacteria, contaminating the pool water and increasing the consumption of disinfectants. Pools equipped with a main drain at the bottom use a pump to draw sediment into the circulation system for filtration and disinfection, making it an indispensable feature for all commercial and underground family swimming pools.
(3),Pipe Pre-installation and Waterproofing
Water and electricity pipelines must be laid according to the principle of "separation of water and electricity" and proper grounding must be ensured. The waterproof layer is the lifeline of the swimming pool; it is recommended to conduct a 48-hour water tightness test after construction to ensure there are no leaks.
(4),Fence Installation
Fences can be installed around the pool to prevent children and pets from accidentally falling in.
